Monogramming Sequence Etiquette For a Couple

What is the correct monogram sequence for couple?

Traditionally monograms for a couple are sequenced with the woman's/bride's first initial sequenced first (left) with the new married last name in the center (larger) and the man's first initial engraved to the right. So, Jenna and Brian Wilson would be jWb. The exception to this rule is when engraving barware. When engraving barware the man's initial is often sequenced first, however, it is a personal preference. So, Jenna and Brian Wilson would be bWj.  See our Monogram Guide for more monogramming details.

Etched Glass vs. Hand-Cut Glass

What is the difference between hand-cut engraved glassware and etched glassware?

We offer both hand cut engraving and sandblasting etching. Both engraving techniques are permanent and cut into the surface of the glassware however each provide a very different finish. Hand cutting is done by hand on a rotating stone wheel and sandblast etching is done by the use of stencils and sand. We create custom designed artwork that includes your personalized monograms and develop stencils from the artwork. The stencils are then  applied to the glassware to create a protection from the sand allowing only the exposed area to be etched/frosted. See more details About Our Engraving Processes here.

What technique is better?

Which technique of engraving is best for my order?

Hand cut engraving is best for those who value the art behind the age old process and like the larger bold lines and crafted finish.

Sandblast etching is best for those looking for a modern and precise finish. Since stencils are made by computer generated artwork we have a variety of  letter fonts and designs that include both trending and classic monogramming styles.

Monogram and Fonts

What are my etched font options?

We have a variety of script and print fonts + monogram styles to choose from. See our Etched Monogram Styles Chart here and Etched Letter Font Chart for details.

Proofs

Do you provide a proof before etching my order?

We do not send a proof unless a special request is made for one. Eligible items have an option to request a proof on the product page. Please be aware that a proof request may delay the production of your order a few days.

Proofs are only available for our sand etched glassware. Due to the nature of our hand-cut engraving processes, a proof can not be provided for our Stone Wheel or Diamond Engraved products.
